This Open Letter is addressed to Indian Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh and Ms. Sonia Gandhi President of the Indian Congress party.
Honourable Sir, and Madam,
With much due respect to you both; I wish to address this letter on behalf of my Eelam Tamil brethren’s. We Tamils are angered and unable to hide our anguish from hearing and seeing the horrendous humanitarian catastrophe, that are unfolding in Vanni caused by your connivance with the Srilankan government. We want you to understand the present pathetic plight of Tamil civilians in Vanni without prejudice or malice. Our kind plea is to ask both of you to rise above politics, and to uphold the egalitarian principles in democracy. We Tamils have the universal rights like any other community on this mother earth for justice with peace and to live in our ancestral homeland with dignity. Is there any doubt about this statement in your mind?
India being the world’s largest democracy, instilled with noble values and Dharmic principles as its integral precept for good governance, should lead the world to fight the oppressors of fellow humans. Dharmic concept was the pivotal principle which influenced both Emperors Samrad Asoka and Akbar to create a compassionate world order. The West looks towards India for its spiritual and compassion. But your Congress government seems to have abandoned these values and waging the dirty Ethnic war for the Srilankan government. Is this war has any ethics? What is in your mind or is it (1) The Geo-political superiority in the region to plunder the resources from the Tamil people’s ancestral homeland, or just (2) Supporting the misguided Srilankan government to destroy our people and homeland.
To gain the Geo-political superiority you had to out bid both China and Pakistan by providing the Military assistance to Srilanka to carry out this faked “War on Terror” program. You have failed miserably on this count to understand the cunning trap which was laid for you by the Srilankan government. Srilankan government is using this cloak-(war on terror) to annihilate the Tamils from Srilanka based on their pre-historic “mind-set” which is also “Mahinda Chindanaya” i.e., This Presidents Dream; to establish the Island solely for the Sinhala Buddhist. You have become a partner in crime against humanity, loosing your “Ahimsa credibility” of your nation.
We are deeply saddened by your callous disregard to the present humanitarian catastrophes that has unfolded so far in Vanni. Your misguided advice to Co-Chairs seems to stem from a revengeful mind-set. We request you to forgive and forget what happened to Mr. Rajeev Gandhi; it was an ill-fate of his-Karma; should not have happened but has. You cannot go on repenting, one must move forward like what had happened to Mrs. Indra Gandhi’s assassin. This assassin’s community is not being continuously hounded on and punished for his misguided act. However, The Tamil Diaspora kindly pleads with you; that you cannot bring about more ill-fate on the whole of the Tamil community. Therefore, We the Tamil Community of 80-Million globally request you to put pressure on the Srilankan government to STOP this unwanted criminal war on the Tamils immediately in Vanni to prevent any further loss of lives.
You should listen to your own 70 million Tamil citizens in Tamil nadu, all ready the uprising has shown feeling of compassion for the Tamils in Vanni. 14 men have so far self-immolated them to high light the plight of Vanni Tamils. Has this not touched your hearts and minds as yet? Tamils in Tamil Nadu and the global Tamil Diaspora have grave doubts on the veteran politician Karunanithy and Ms. Rajram Jayalalitha. However, the Tamils feel most grateful to Messer’s, Vaiko, and Gopalasamy, Dr. Ramados, Pala.Nedumaran, Pandian, Seeman and many others who have spoken out loud and clear to show their unflinching support for the Eelam Tamils grievances. They made representations to you on many occasions, yet you have not heeded to their agonizing calls.
Eelam Tamils took up arms to defend the State terrorism in the late 1970’s. The ethnic war as such started after Black July of 1983. This was when; a genocidal pogrom was purposefully unleashed on the Tamils by the Srilankan state. “A man is compelled as his last resort to rebellion against tyranny and oppression to protect his rights” Twenty five years of death and destruction of Tamil people and their Homes, Businesses, Temples, Churches, Schools and Libraries within their homeland. This is continuing now with the military help from you and counties such as China, Pakistan, Ukraine and Iran. You have coerced USA & EU to support this cruel and brutal war under the pretext of fighting terrorism. Tamils have been and will continue to fight for their basic fundamental human rights to gain self determination within their own ancestral homeland. You can not subdue the Tamil Diaspora that easily. We know your intelligence service RAW at work to fragment the Diaspora by holding a conference in Bangalore in April.
The International diplomatic intervention has become imperative. India, with its geostrategic advantage and trade and investment clout over a war haemorrhagic Srilankan economy that is in search of an international bailout package, must use its leverage deftly to promote immediate ceasefire to bring about a politically genuine interethnic equality. More broadly, the US, EU, Japan and other important players need to exert leverage to stop the government of Srilanka rebuffing ceasefire calls and press Beijing to moderate its unsettling role.
We the Tamil Diaspora request the Indian government to assure the protection of our relatives the brethrens in Vanni.
