"SELF DETERMINATION IS KEY TO THE WORLD PEACE"
President Mahinda Rajapaksa has decided to ignore the recommendations made by the Lessons Learnt and Reconciliation Commission (LLRC).
The President has made this decision following continuous pressure from Defence Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa and several of his advisors.
The group of persons who had met the President last Monday has said the LLRC has made recommendations to please the international community and implementing them would be unfair to the Sinhala, Tamil and Muslim people who suffered under the LTTE as well as those who have sacrificed their lives to the LTTE in order to win peace in the country.
Therefore, they have advised the President to create a protest within the government against the LLRC report and to use it to escape the issue.
The group has also advised that the local campaign be handed over to Minister Champika Ranawaka and Wimal Weerawansa and to use former Ministers Milinda Moragoda and Rohitha Bogollagama be assigned the task of carrying out the campaign internationally.
They have also advised the President to use the assistance of popular politicians in the opposition against the LLRC.
Apart from a campaign against the LLRC, the group has also proposed that a campaign be carried out against members who represented the commission.
A mud slinging campaign is to therefore commence against well known public service members Palihakkara and Rohan Perera.
Measures have been taken to launch a campaign saying they had made recommendations to the LLRC to please the international community since they were being provided with funding from various international organizations.
