Well known racketeers Niaml Perera, Asanga Seneviartane and Aravinda de Silva have taken millions of rupees out of the country in violation of exchange regulations under the guise of using it for the election for the 2018 Commonwealth Games in St. Kits where Sri Lanka also bid to host the games, a member of the delegation said.

These businessmen who have joined the 165 member delegation that left the country with Central Bank Governor Ajith Nivard Cabraal had taken the monies claiming they were to be used on the Commonwealth representatives who had voting rights.

They had launched a special operation to please several organizers of the games and representatives and had paid them US$ 25,000 each.

Although the envelopes handed over to the officials have stated there was US$ 25,000 inside, it had later been revealed that each of the envelopes had contained only US$ 20,000.

It is learnt that these businessmen had enjoyed the company of the young girls who had joined the tour to St. Kits from the time the plane took off from Katunayake and had even got some girls to stay back in their luxury rooms every night
