RE: A Genuine Appeal from Tamil Diaspora, We are the voice for the Voiceless brethren in Srilanka.
A genuine PEACE requires positive attributes. It requires Freedom from fear, Freedom of expression, Freedom to dissent within law. These freedom cannot be found in Srilanka. 63 years Tamil community in Srilanka has endured hardship, being discriminated, marginalized in governance, politics, education, employment. Faced with physical violence, Mental torture, dwellings, business premises torched, cultural significance destroyed such as Temples, Churches and Mosques. Historic and ancient Jaffna Library with 97,000 books, documents on Ola leaves ancient as 2000years all burnt to ashes in 1981 June. Frequent, Civil riots from 1956 -1983 were well calculated GENOCIDE. It is disheartening that the International Community and The UN had not heard the cry and screams of the Tamils for the past 63 years.
Srilankan state terrorism was hidden through its powerful propaganda. Prevarication of truth and vituperate the victims of its aggression. Many countries were mere judgmental against Tamil rebellion on their liberation struggle. A non-governmental player is never recognized, that is why WE Tamils are in the present state. Dear UNHRC members It is time to be more judicious when dealing with Sri – lanka. WE Tamils need to be inclusive in any political solution that to be addressed by UN. Please understand the underline causes for this ETHNIC CONFLICT and take account of the legitimate grievances and aspirations of the Tamil community/nation in Srilanka.
Tamils Lost their sovereignty to Portuguese in 1621, this Tamil sovereignty and its territorial integrity was transferred to Dutch in 1658 then to British in 1796. In 1833 British unified the three kingdoms into a single territory for its easy administration when it gave independence gave the whole sovereignty and territorial regions of Tamils to the Majority rule with its Parliamentary democracy. This same parliamentary democracy that helped inflict a pernicious system of iniquity on the Tamils. It could not safe guard the Tamils with the clause 29 of the constitution drawn up for a multiracial/ multi ethnic population.
Tamil peoples ancestral homeland is our true, ideal home. Please help us to regain and restore our people’s safety within our homeland within its physical location to enjoy our history, traditions and achievements.
