Social Inclusion and the Economic Imperative

A conference developed by Goldsmiths Open Book Project

Tuesday 20 September 2011

From 8.30 to 5.00

New Academic Building

Goldsmiths, University of London

Speakers and panel members will include:

Patrick Loughery, Warden of Goldsmiths, University of London.

Lord Carlile of Berriew QC.

Bobby Cummines OBE, UNLOCK.

Mark Woodruff, Sainsbury’s Family Charitable Trust.

Dr Andy Aresti, Birkbeck, University of London.

Peter Stanford, Writer and Broadcaster.

Joe Baden, Open Book Project Coordinator.

You will have the opportunity to hear from experts in their field, and to participate in workshops, a panel discussion, and networking.

Based upon the successful methodology of the Goldsmiths Open Book Project, the conference aims to help inform higher education institutions how to comply with the requirements of university access agreements in the most effective and economic way. The conference will also show how partner organisations can best achieve valid outcomes through partnership with education providers.

At the conference there will be Goldsmiths Open Book students, charitable organisations from within the local and wider community, academics, industry researchers, and policy makers so that we can work together and further the debate of Social Inclusion and the Economic Imperative.

The conference will help raise funds for Goldsmiths Open Book Project, which supports ex-offenders, those with mental health, addiction backgrounds and disabilities, so that they can capitalise through their own personal experiences and undertake further and higher education and reach their full potential.
