. There is no positive result to any group of people; and there want be. I see it as a war to suppress the national liberation of a nationality. Elam war was a national liberation struggle. Because of the continuous severe suppression by successive governments, the Tamil national problem spread into the international plane. The main reason for this is the terrible suppression of this government. Over one million Tamil people were forced out of the country. They have settled in other countries. These constitute the Tamil Diaspora. In some countries they have got similar status to Palestine people. This status has been accepted by international trade union movements and left organizations.

Prabhakarans war was only one side of the liberation struggle. Though there is a military defeat, other campaigns are going on throughout the world, and the attention of the global capital and the world powers are drawn by it. Though Prabhakaran used ferocious methods he was a freedom fighter for Eelam. There are other countries where liberation fighters used similar ferocious methods. Even if we do not subscribe to such methods we have to accept the struggle as a liberating struggle. Though the liberation war got defeated, the fact that the Tamil people are oppressed has become a problem that worries the international capitalist class as well. Hence they demand an agreement with the Lanka Tamil bourgeoisie. This is the pressure on the Lankan regime.

There was attention of the international community on genocidal attacks in the internal wars of Serbia and Bosnia, at that time. Especially there were international military interventions in Bosnia. On these countries and others, still there are investigations going on about human rights violations and genocide. It is not confined to Lanka. Though the government is crying over the UN report and channel 4, these accusations are made by the world powers that continually helped this government. For example, the government conducted the northern war with the help and assistant of India, America and others. President once declared that he conducted the war of India. Now these powers push UN report and channel 4 with the idea of revealing some truth.

Tamil Diaspora cannot fool Indian or American leaders. Latter behave in this manner with a definite political motive and aim. That is why they are giving prominence to UN report and the channel 4. They do this not merely to get some political advantage but more for stabilizing the Mahinda regime. Mahinda regime is a puppet government made by them. They are worried that because of the continuation of Tamil dispute, Mahinda regime could get into disrepute and become unstable. India and other global powers are worried on that. Hence they press Lanka to clear the idea that Tamils are living under repression. Hence they want Mahinda to discuss with the Tamil bourgeoisie about devolution and power sharing. They suggest that a solution beyond the 13th amendment could arrest the wound. This is their message.

They do not want to over throw the government of Mahinda. It is a government which has accepted the IMF advice loyally and is implementing what they want in all aspects. The government is for privatization and sale of all resources. It for MNCS. Hence world powers want to protect this government. That is why they show the mistakes. They know the neglect of Tamil bourgeoisie could lead to a continuous problem and the Lankan market will not be stable. Hence they advice Mahinda to find a solution to the Tamil national problem and stabilize the local market. International powers are not concerned about corruption, attack on workers or the masses.

The government leaders who claim that there is a conspiracy of imperialism fall into two categories. One section is interested in fooling the left oriented masses. Others say that out of idiocy. This government is following global capitalist development and economic programme. It is taking over peasant holdings and land in general on behalf of investors, shot down workers, privatizing higher education, and selling all resources to international companies. It is lunacy to say that world powers are attempting to over throw this government. They want to stabilize it. Hence they want Mahinda to go beyond13th amendment to bring in Tamil nationality within the system. Hence the pressure for police powers, land powers. Mahinda agreed to this with India and Prof Gamini Perris went to India to sign a common statement. However subsequently, due to the pressure of chauvinist in the cabinet he backed out. This is why India and world powers challenging Mahinda.

India is not against UN report or the Channel 4. India is the in charge power of global capitalism. It is after the signals given by Man Mohan Singh that others started shouting about UN report and Channel 4; essentially to put pressure on the Lanka regime. If the global capital wants to displace this government what is the alternative? India is dead against Ranil; General Sarath is in prison and not suitable at the moment for them; obviously not the JVP. In short there is no capitalist alternative for them. Hence they are doing everything to clean up Mahinda regime and move forward. UN report and Channel four is used for this purpose. It always revolves around devolution. They never press for an international criminal court. Their demands are concrete. Remove emergency, release political prisoners, pay compensation for lost lives and destruction, expedite rehabilitation and give a real autonomy to the Tamil homeland.

Above is the real message. Of course they are worried that the left could make use of the Tamil national problem to develop mass unrest. They know we went around the world and made international workers movement conscious of this problem. Hence they warn Mahinda that the left could take the issue into their hand. The UNP, Ranil or Jayalath really did not campaign for Tamil liberation in the international plane. In 2007, 2009and 2010, I participated in many campaigns. Even before we told the world that Tamils are repressed and war crimes are committed. When I was returning in 2010 they were ready to kill me; my vehicle was destroyed by Mahinda due to this reason.

All guerrilla organizations use ferocious tactics. In 88/89 what were the methods of the JVP? How many oppositional activists were killed by the JVP? That was also a guerrilla struggle. Then Mahinda came with me to Australia and we condemned the Premadasa regime for brutal killings. At that time Premadasa regime killed over 50.000 youth to suppress the JVP uprising. We opposed it at that time; similarly we oppose Mahinda regime today. In fact at that time JVP shot me and I escaped death by mere chance; but we stood against the repression and campaigned internationally.

The united nation is not an independent body; it is controlled by the global powers. The UN secretary is appointed with the approval of US, UK and other powers. They are not interested so much about what happened to Tamil poor masses. In fact these powers gave all support to suppress the rebellion of Tamil poor. What they harp on is the rights of the bourgeoisie. They want the government to accommodate the Tamil bourgeoisie. In that sense they press for devolution to the Tamil nation and incorporate it in the on going development.

By taking the campaign against repression I have not betrayed my country; it is Mahinda who betrayed our people. I have accused the government and I have damaged the repressive bourgeoisie chauvinist government. That is my duty and that is what I wanted. I believe by exposing these criminal behaviors; the government will be pressed by the world masses. It may compel the government to solve the Tamil national problem. In the present scenario there is large probability, say 60 or 70 % possibility, for Mahinda to come out with an acceptable devolution. If the government comes out with devolution acceptable to Tamils we shall support it inspite of the reactionary nature of the government.

We never support or join the government; but as we did in1988, in relation to the government of JR, we will back the proposal. Then we had to face the racist campaign of the JVP. Latter started shooting at us and we had to defend by arming ourselves. We shall fight Sinhala chauvinist again if the need arises. India in the past defended the government; now it has allowed Channel 4 and UN report campaigns to go forward. This change is because Tamil national problem is a problem affecting India. Lankan Tamil bourgeoisie is requesting Indian rulers to defend the Tamil national rights. Not only Jayalalitha but also other regional leaders such as of Kerala, west Bengal is interested in the Tamil national problem. It has become a class problem for the Indian regional bourgeoisie. Though it is a bourgeoisie democratic problem we have to get involved. We have to fight against repression of nationalities. All classes are facing the repression. Left has to be in the fore front of this democratic struggle.
