The UN must stand with their principles against all war crimes…but they failed to do so with the Sri Lanka War crimes. They knew very well what was going on during the war in Sri Lanka but they didn’t take any initiation to stop this genocide. NOW THEY HAVE A RESPONSIBILITY TO ANSWER TO TAMILS AROUND THE WORLD INCLUDING THE TAMILS IN SRI LANKA WHO ARE STILL SUFFEREING AND BEING THE VICTIMS OF THIS GENOCIDE.

It is outrageous that these horrible incidents are still being ignored by the International power-players & UN. Obama who pontificates about human rights is strangely quiet. Now the Aussies should know why the boat people keep coming. I am sure that there are some fakes but most will be legit. I have heard that the people who were returned to this country has been forcibly taken into custody never to be heard of!

The UN is selective in going after rogue states that abuse human rights of national minorities. In the case of Libya it quickly acted in branding Moammar Gadhaffi as committing war crimes by ordering the killings of Libyan citizens. But in Sri Lanka looked the other way when thousands and thousands of innocent Thamil civilians were killing by the Sri Lankan armed forces.

Banki Moon or Banki Moron should be made to resign on the Sri Lankan issue. Most of the so called democracies in the western world knew about the killings of Tamil civilians, but kept silent. They all thought SriLanka will move closer and closer to China if they denounce their action. It is all politics. These western democracies have laws to protect animals, but none to protect the lives of the Tamils. Shame on these countries and the UN.

I cannot believe there has been so little outcry over these atrocities. How is it that we cry over dumb animals but cannot show the same abhorence when the victims are people. As for the UN Secretary General, he shoudl resign over his failure to take the opportunity to speak to the survivors. Shame on him and on the Sri Lankan Government.

What was shown in the 4Corners’ program is not an exception it is the norm in the island. What happened in 2009 is nothing but genocide. Sadly it was aided and abetted by every country in this world, mainly by India. Not only this genocide has to be investigated and the culprits brought to justice but also the Tamils has to be allowed to decide by way of a referendum on whether they want to be a part of Srilanka or to form their own country.

Sri Lankans do not have any mechanism or access to independent justice to investigate war crimes. Even for reconciliation, accountability and justice is required. Only liberal states and international consciousness can demand such action. Otherwise, we will see more Pol Pots walking the earth with the complacent of UN.

I wonder whether we are living in an uncivilised world after watching the 4 Corners. I would like the Australian Govenment to take the initiative in this matter. What is stopping UN to take action ? UN can act against Libya in no time to protect the civilians. When comes to Srilanka, only request the rogue srilankan govt to take initiative to sort the matter.
Can anyone tell me why Libya’s matter is not internal affairs ?
