"SELF DETERMINATION IS KEY TO THE WORLD PEACE"

Alarmingly one could feel the tension of rifts between the old guards who participated in manifestations in the past and the youthful TYO backed by a group of few old guards at Trocadero opposing the Eiffel Tower. This tension prevailed until the Mullivaikal Genocide. With open ears and watchful eyes one could observe this sort of sad events at a time when people were dying in hundreds and thousands. The TYO should not be blamed but the old guards from both sides are the real culprits and caused division among the Diaspora.
Though person like me is not too good in English, we obliged ourselves at the service of the organizers to explain to foreign tourists who were curious about our agitation. But our effort too was stopped in a discouraging manner as new young faces were brought into the spot at Trocadero. This too could have happened by the advice of the few elderly. Sad thing was that these kids neither knew the history of our struggle nor the cause of our agitation. They never witnessed the past hurtful events that led Tamils to take up arms to defend themselves. Why patriotic people like us should be dismantled from rendering our services to arouse the conscience of the aliens who wanted to know the core of our struggle? When people like us who are emptied of any sort of such foxy, hostile or suspicious approach and agitating as valiant Tamil like them, why the old guards standing by the side of the youngsters and showing their faces to cameras could not understandably accept our gestures? Why because we are not that foxy like them? Is this the only criteria to be a leader? TYO should not be blamed for this as they did not exist when riots, pogroms, violence against Tamils had taken place when we had lost our kith and kin as in Mullivaikal.
I cannot boast about knowing all the new members housed at Paris TCC since 2003 because I was away from France. One of the activists who happened to be a known face to the TCC circle was very critical about the organization as attempts of incidents of sabotage were imminent. At one moment due to this man’s timely alert the intruders jumping out from a 4X4 jeep and were rushing into the sterile area where our youths were fasting was thwarted. Even a hand to hand fight would have been the result if this man had not intervened to control our youths. He was an ordinary shop owner. He got discouraged and never came again for night vigil. He used to bring a mat to sleep with others while those who posed to photographs during the day had peaceful sleep at home. Like him a very well known radio announcer in Sri Lanka too spent the nights on the mat. They all had gone away like many others because of the foxy maneuvering by few elderly men who stood behind the youths.
Why people in power are not able to break their cocoons which they themselves have spun ever since they rose to prominence? The reason is simple. These men are selfish and not dedicated to sacrifice their egos for the sake of our people who were interred either wounded and alive or half dead and invalidly breathing. How can these people fighting for powers could ever serve our people who are battered and a poor?
The French police were cautious and were supportive to the Diaspora but they cannot distinguish a patriotic Tamil from the drop outs. They cannot distinguish a Singhalese from a Tamil. So trouble making was so easy and our hard earned good image could have been damaged if there had had a clash. Therefore ripen people like that man’s timely service is incredibly valuable to our struggle. Discarding such experiences is nasty and should not be allowed. Diaspora needs such men and not egoistic, power hungry individuals who crave for power and fame.
An old man like me was so happy to have seen our youngsters taking over the responsibility from the old guards in spite of lack of experience. There was energy, fearlessness, and dedicated. I too felt that way. I cannot boast but admit that because of my argument with the TF1 the famous leading TV channel in France, I was endorsed as an individual eligible for arrest by the police of Billancourt if the manifestation was to be moved against the TF1. The officer was decent and comprehensive about our legitimate struggle and expressed his sympathy for our struggle unlike some of our foxy Diaspora. Can these fighting groups stop such gossips and work for real reconciliation?
But the role of some of the old guards was disgusting and discouraging. When manifestation was centered on Republic in Paris why the hell another manifestation was organized at Nevers 300 Kilometers far off from Paris? Who were behind all such hidden plans? What happened to the money collected for this trip? The former TTC men were aware that the people hosting such manifestation at Never were once accused of fraud of fund. Why was such revival with such a group of people? Did the organizers in Paris know about this arrangement?
Now about a young man! The young man, who often manned the manifestation together with another young lady and a talented young man who was very articulate in Tamil, seemed to have fallen out of the later two. Who was behind this rift? Why this young lady too good in French and Tamil was discarded along with the other Tamil youth who spoke brilliantly?
This young and modest man admired by the public was spotted seen last year during the Annual Tamil Festivity Sports celebration. He was dumfounded when people witnessing his presence in public during the manifestation, happened to have roofed under a booth manned by “Thai Nilam” organizers. This booth was manned by another important person considered presently as the most controversial figure since post Mullivaikal era.
These are some of the random incidents that disturb me to date. People like me and many others have gone silence and inactive because no one knows who should be trusted? It is better to sympathize with our battered people and help them in whatever way we can instead of looking forward to these men of disunity who mislead the Diaspora. Until they come under one banner they should not be trusted upon but as Tamils we could help our kith and kin the way we can afford to.
Therefore links to abnormalities in all forms that destroyed Diaspora’s unity and ultimately paved the way to the destruction of Vanni De facto Tamil State should be analyzed before and from the time of February until the Paris Annual Sports Festivity of 2010.
Rectification of errors should lead to remorse. Unification is possible if these two statuses are achieved. That alone will create a healthy atmosphere towards a lasting peace and understanding through reconciliation among the Diaspora. God should guide our mushroom leaders in the right path!
