The Board of Directors of Asian Human Rights Commission Ltd. (AHRC) and Asian Legal Resource Centre Ltd. (ALRC) wish to thank the human rights community in Asia and in the world for the continuous support and cooperation extended to the AHRC and the ALRC for its work of promotion and protection of human rights.

The Board of Directors requests further cooperation and support for the future work of both organizations.

The Board of Directors wishes to announce the appointment of a new Executive Director for both the AHRC and the ALRC. Mr. Wong Kai Shing, who has been a staff member of the AHRC from 1990 to 1994 and again from 2000 to the present, including being the Deputy Director since 2009, will be appointed as the Executive Director for both the AHRC and the ALRC effective from 1st August 2010. Mr. Wong is a graduate of the Chinese University of Hong Kong and holds a masters degree in political science from the City University of Hong Kong. He has been involved in human rights work for a long period of time.

Mr. Basil Fernando, who has been Executive Director of the AHRC and ALRC since November 1994, will take up the position of Director, Policy and Programme Development in both the AHRC and the ALRC.
